Draw.Chat Basics

Draw.Chat lets you create online whiteboards in several ways—depending on how you want to work. You can start with a blank, white board, use an image, PDF document, or map as a background, combine multiple files into a multi-page board, or use the configurator to precisely set all board parameters before you start working.

Creating a whiteboard

You can create a whiteboard by clicking the "Create a new board" button. A new board will be created with a unique, random address. The URL will automatically include an admin password, which allows you to manage the board.

Board interface

The Draw.Chat interface is divided into three main areas: the toolbar, the board workspace, and the sidebar panel.

The toolbar is located at the top of the screen. It contains buttons grouped by topic: File, Drawing tools, Navigation, Editing, Information, and the fullscreen mode toggle.

The sidebar panel consists of the panel bar, the preview window, and the chat window.

On the panel bar, you’ll find buttons to hide the panel, page preview, notifications, and conferencing tools: audio, video, and screen sharing.

The preview window displays thumbnails of the current page and active audio, video, and screen streams.

The chat window contains the conversation history and a field for entering text messages.

Quick navigation

You can move around the board in several ways: using two fingers, the mouse wheel, keyboard arrow keys, or by using the minimap, which takes you to a selected spot with a single click.

Zooming in and out

To zoom in or out, use a two-finger gesture or hold SHIFT and use the mouse wheel or the arrow keys on the keyboard.

Rotating the canvas

You can rotate the canvas with a two-finger gesture or by holding SHIFT + SPACE and dragging with the mouse or using the keyboard arrow keys.

Adding pages

You can add new pages to an existing board by opening additional images or documents using the "Open" feature.

You can also use keyboard shortcuts: Shift + Ctrl + O on Windows or ⇧ + ⌘ + O on Mac.

Each newly added file will be opened as a separate board page, which you can freely edit, rearrange, or delete.

Undoing and redoing changes

You can undo the last action with a three-finger swipe to the left. A three-finger swipe to the right allows you to redo the last undone change.

Undoing and redoing changes is also available using keyboard shortcuts :

Ctrl + Z / Shift + Ctrl + Z on Windows and ⌘ + Z / ⇧ + ⌘ + Z on Mac.
